Anthony Middle School
Vega Productions and the Minneapolis Public School District worked hand-in-hand to revitalize the music program at Anthony Middle School(South Minneapolis). On January 30th, 2009, Anthony was a recipient of 35 instruments as a result of a Vega Productions New Year's Eve benefit concert. The instruments were placed into the hands of the students immediately and in the following months, the Anthony Middle School Concert Band recoreded a version of "Sgt. Pepper's Loney Heart's Club Band" for the bestselling, award winning, Minnesota Beatle Project Vol. 1. Album sales at the school's 2009 winter concerts generated more than $1,000.00 in proceeds for the Anthony's music programs and the album has provided over $25,000.00 in support to music and art programs statewide since it's debut in December of 2009. In the Spring of 2010, Anthony Middle School was selected by the Minneapolis School District as the recipient of another Vega donation - a beautiful 1976 Kimball Grand Piano. The piano made it's debut at Anthony's Spring concert and is a jewel in the crown of their magnificent program, which is lead by Music Director Brian Vander Heul.
"Thank you for donating all of the instruments to Anthony. The New Year's Eve event was a VERY successful event. Thank you again for all of the work you do with every school. Vega is certainly a gift to school music programs!"
-Brian Vander Heul, Music Director, Anthony Middle School
