Maxfield Magnet Elementary School
In the Spring of 2009, the Saint Paul Public School District notifiied Vega Productions that Maxfield Magnet Elementary School(Saint Paul Midway) was in need of assitance. Maxfield Magnet was selected to be the recipient of the proceeds resulting Vega Productions' Rock the Boat II benefit which took place on August 14th, 2009 and featured local music heros The Big Wu, Pert' Near Sandstone, White Iron Band, Heatbox and special guest, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Bernie Worrell(Talking Heads/Parliament Funkadelic). The event generated a donation valued at more than $28,000.00 and included more than 45 new instruments. A ceremony was held at Maxfield Magnet Elementary on October 20, 2009 and featured an inspiring live performance by Rock the Boat II artist Heatbox with a special guest appearance from Maxfield Principal Nancy Stachel. Maxfield is successfully transitioning from a "persistantly low achieving school" to a leader within it's community.
